On the 22nd of June 1941 German Nazi violated the non-aggression pact and suddenly initiated war actions against Soviet Union. Nazi aviation applied massive attack on airports, railway units and Soviet army formations at border areas. Such cities as Murmansk, Kaunas (Lithuania), Minsk, Kiev, Odessa and Sevastopol were bombarded. Thousands of the enemy’s military units threw fire attacks on front military formations, frontier outposts and defence structures along the border. First air-raids and artillery thrusts were followed by massive land forces advancing in Baltic and Carpathians. Germany was joined by Hungary, Italy, Romania, Finland, Slovenia and Croatia in the war against the USSR. Hitler’s officership forwarded 191 divisions including 19 tank and motorize troops to fight against the USSR. Their forces consisted of 5,5 million people, about 4300 tanks, 47,2 thousand arm units and mortars, 4980 war-planes and 192 war-ships.
Barbarossa plan of the German officership must have been a range of brief invading operations that should have finished by “the fall”. And the Great Patriotic War began.
