33. Combat against Army Group North

Though they were restlessly fighting Leningrad and North-West fronts and the Baltic Fleet couldn’t stop the opponent on distant approaches to Leningrad.

They appeared in the opponent’s rear and were holding the Hanko (Hango) peninsula for five months. The defenders of the peninsula exterminated 53 aircrafts, 20 artillery and mortar batteries, thousands of Nazi officers and soldiers.

On the 8th of March the artillery commander of the 67th Army ordered to mortar regiment No. 144 to take firing positions near Sinyavinskiye wetlands. The regiment had been a part of this army before the summer 1943 and before it was included in the Second Shock Army. On the 7th of October 1943 the artillery commander of Leningrad front ordered to the regiment to take firing positions near Maloye and Bolshoye Konovalovo villages and enter Maritime Task Force.
