14. Baimak and Sibay Copper Plants

In late 1930s Baimak Copper Plant had advanced departments and workshops, a system of vehicles and loading facilities complying with sulphide copper ore processing requirements. By the end of 1930th blister copper performance of the plant had reached 7 thousand tons.

Before the war the plant was reconstructed, that significantly enhanced its productivity. The plant eagerly joined the Stakhanovite movement.

The Baimak Copper Plant supplied plenty of copper in the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

However, further production development required the plant decomposition. It was complicated to transfer ore to Baimak, whereas the demand for non-ferrous metals was growing. It resulted in establishing another copper plant in Sibay. In January 1944 Sibay Copper Plant produced its first blister copper. The new Sibay copper plant boosted total amount of the product.
