2. Industry Evacuation to the Bashkir Soviet Republic

Winning the war required huge efforts, unity and belonging from the Soviet people. A close-knit military industry was created in the rear which was developing industrial construction, recovering plants and factories evacuated from the combat area, readjusting military production.

The Bashkir Soviet Republic sheltered one hundred seventy-two industrial enterprises, workshops and units. They mostly were placed in industrial centres of the republic, cities of Ufa, Sterlitamak, Beloretsk.  Ufa officials gave seventy-five thousand square meters for production facilities. Most evacuated equipment was placed at sites of operating plants or factories under construction.

Scope of production grew by 5 times, new industrial branches appeared in the republic: chemical branch, textile one, electrical one, speciality consumer goods industry, including vitamins production.
