Vladimir Komarov, the President of the Academy of Sciences, led active researches on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan. He realized the significance of Ural metallurgy supply issues, because being the most important metal production structure in the country it was lacking manganese.

Abzelilovskiy, Baimakskiy and Uchalinskiy districts appeared to have rich deposits with manganese content in the ore over 50 %. The depositis exlpoitation started late 1941, the raw materials were provided to the metallurgy plant in Magnitogorsk.

The crucial task of that time was to tamper and extract bauxite ores. Salavatskiy district appeared to have reliable sources of raw materials including a deposit of superb quality bauxite.

Sibayskiy and Uchalinskiy districts turned out to stand on copper-sulphide deposits. In 1942 Uchalinskiy mining showed gold extraction having grown by 39%.
