46. Gazi (Gazetdin) Zagitov

Gazi Zagitdinov was born on the 20th of August 1921 in Yangushevo village of Mishkinskiy district of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

In August 1940 he was called up for the Red Army.

On the 30th of April the senior sergeant took part in the assault of the Reichstag as a member of captain V. Makov’s group, a reconnaissance agent, head of flash-ranging platoon post of cannon artillery Rezhitskaya Red Banner Brigade No. 136. At 22.30 he placed the Victory Banner together with his comrades. Gazi Zagitov and his comrades were up for the title of the Heroes of the Soviet Union. But the command of the 1st Belarus front decided to award them with orders of the Red Banner.

His other awards are Orders of Glory II and III class and medals.
